Introducing the Equivate Draw Reins
Not all draw reins are created equal.
Our Soft Poly Draw Reins are built for riders who want a smoother, lighter feel without sacrificing durability. The premium braided poly rope glides freely through your hands, resists water and sweat, stays flexible in all weather, and is incredibly easy to keep clean. Unlike leather, these reins will last a lifetime with minimal care, and require no conditioning or break-in to stay soft.
Choose Your Feel
🩷 3/8” Pink
- Lightweight
- Faster response through the rein
- More refined feel in your hands
- Great for horses that already understand collection and for riders wanting subtle communication
💙 1/2” Turquoise
- Fuller, softer feel
- More comfortable to hold for long rides
- Slightly more forgiving contact
- Excellent for everyday schooling, young horses, and riders who prefer a substantial rein
- Starting point for those just beginning their draw rein journey
Neither is “better,” they simply offer two completely different feels to match your preference.
Three Attachment Options
One set of draw reins. Three completely different effects.
① Girth Center Ring (between the front legs)
Produces the lowest line of pull, encouraging the horse to stretch forward and down while seeking soft contact. Excellent for encouraging relaxation, lifting the back, and developing topline without creating an artificially high headset.
Best for:
• Long and low work
• Young horses
• Flatwork
• Warm-ups
• Developing relaxation and correct body use
② Side Girth D-Rings
Creates a more direct line to the rider’s hands, offering balanced lateral guidance while still allowing freedom through the shoulder. This is the most versatile, all-around attachment point.
Best for:
• Everyday schooling
• Transition work
• Softening through the rib cage
• Collection exercises
• General refinement
③ Breast Collar D-Rings on the Saddle
Creates the highest line of pull, shortening the leverage and producing quicker rein response with less rope movement. Often preferred when a horse already understands draw reins and only needs light reminders.
Best for:
• Finished horses
• Fine-tuning responsiveness
• Maintaining balance
• Advanced flatwork
• Riders wanting the lightest amount of rein travel
